An elegant fascinator for a Mother of the Bride It is always great when we have feathers the exact colour of a dress. Our client was very pleased when she collected her order from us a few days ago. This fascinator was made using feathers which we have cut to make a very striking effect. It is Freda's birthday this week and the workshop was a birthday present from her daughter-in-law.Both ladies worked very hard and were delighted with their fascinators. 'Gone With The Wind' A classic hat named after the film 'Gone With The Wind'. This name was given by a visitor to Windsor Castle where my hats were on display when I gave a talk about millinery in conjunction with the curator of the Queen's clothes exhibition last December. The brim is covered with small black roses, the decoration around the crown is a black silk band and delicate bow. Finally part of our new collection has been photographed. Soon to be on our website! Hats for Special Occasions - Ladies Day at Royal Ascot Today we had a product photo shoot in the shop and it made me reminisce about part of the collection from last year.  This hat was worn at Royal Ascot last year and was apparently admired by many thus making the owner very excited and even more pleased with her hat. My Husband Richard Henry is often referred to as my apprentice milliner. As the Spring/Summer collection of hats are being designed at the moment his help with blocking hats is invaluable. Without his assistance I would not be able to complete hat orders as quickly as we do. He has an excellent knowledge of hats and often looks after the shop on his own. The Bee Keeper Photo Shoot The Sunflower Hat Behind the scene photographs After months of preparation our photo shoot entitled The Bee Keeper took place. Having bought a jar of local honey from a bee keeper and a honeycomb the ideas of making hats for a photoshoot came flooding in within a few minutes. I quickly asked a friend of mine who is an amazing corsetiere to make a corseted dress. Lyndsey very quickly designed the most beautiful outfit.  The collaboration started 5 months ago, lots of ideas and lots of sewing. Yesterday we had the most enjoyable day in a Shawn's studio.
